Erin & Tyler | Sunrise Engagement Session

You know, I never thought of myself as an “early person” — I loooove to sleep in when I can and get super cranky if I don’t get enough sleep. Just ask my husband. ha! So when I typed the words “What about a sunrise session?” in my email to Erin as we planned for her engagement session, I had not taken into consideration that I’d be setting my alarm clock for 4 am! Eeek!

So there I was. On a beach. At 4:50 am. And it was incredible. I had never done a sunrise session, so this was a first for me. I was in awe of the amazing soft colors of the sky and its reflection on the rocky shore. I was so anxious for Erin and Tyler to arrive so they too can bask in this amazing scene. As the sun slowly rose, it gifted us the most unbelievable light. Soft. Pink. Gorgeous. Every image captured was pure perfection. I could have photographed them on the beach all day. But, like all good things, they must come to an end. I knew this ‘magical’ light had a short life span before it turned into bright, harsh sunlight. After some amazing beach photos, we quickly got in our cars and ventured into Portsmouth for the remainder of our session. The best part of this sunrise session (aside from having an adorable couple and incredible light) was having the whole town to our selves! At 5:45 am, this otherwise bustling city was the sweetest (and quietest) backdrop.  As we made our way through the city taking advantage of all it’s little nooks and crannies, we ended our session at one of their favorite restaurants, The Back Trumpet. From what I hear, it’s pretty amazing. :)

So, if you have the slightest thought of having a sunrise session, do it. You will not be disappointed! For me, it was magical. There was something so calming about it that you just embrace the beauty and serenity that surrounds you.

Erin & Tyler, I cannot thank you enough for your willingness to get up at the crack of dawn to take photos. You guys rock! I cannot wait for your big day in November. It’s going to be just as epic as your sunrise session! I just know it! xoxo
